19 junio, 2020«Women in Geoscience» número especial de Catena
Today, women represent only a third of researchers and around a fifth of top level academics. For centuries, women have been usually excluded from Academia. In fact, many scientific issues have been designed, organized, reviewed and signed exclusively by men. Frequently, women aren’t available as mentors for aspiring young scientists. They aren’t in the “list of contacts” when journalists call for someone to provide a quick scientific opinion. In fact, European recent reports show that Geoscience present the lowest values of women proportion in Academia, both in Europe and United States. Thus, we propose a change in respect this situation using Catena for editing a special issue focusing in both women research visibility and landscape evolution and geoecology topics. “Women in Geoscience” special issue begins such as a pioneer initiative with the aim to disseminate high quality natural science knowledge, 100% led by women and almost 100% written and reviewed by women. Besides, this special issue in Catena will include a world-wide distribution of both authors and locations, in addition to different topics of broad interest including: geomorphology, paleoclimate, ecology, hydrology, landscape evolution, fire dynamics, etc.
